HUMBOLDT H-4205 Soil Penetrometer, Dial Type

Humboldt H-4205 pocket penetrometer determines the unconfined compressive strength of foundations made of materials ranging from clay to sandy soils. Using the reference chart (included), readings obtained with this device can be used to estimate safe bearing pressures. This penetrometer can also indicate an angle of internal friction (sandy soils).

• Insert the plunger into the soil until it reaches the calibration notch; the unit will retain the maximum value on the dial until it is released via the reset button.
• The inner dial scale has 0.1 divisions and measures from 0 to 6 kg/sq.cm.
• The outer scale provides a load strength scale in 0.1 divisions, and has marking from 0 to 11.

• Humboldt H-4205 offers +/-1% full scale accuracy at 20 degrees Celsius (68 degrees Fahrenheit).
• The outer dial measures the penetration force in kg, while the inner dial measures the unconfined compressive strength for the 0.25-inch plunger tip in kg/sq.cm, which equates to TSF.
• The device also includes plungers with diameters of 10, 15, 20 and 25 mm that can be used to measure strength in a variety of cohesive soil types.
• The 2.5-inch-diameter dial can be easily recalibrated using register plates (included) and any readable scale with a capacity of 10 - 15 lb.
