Product Details

Bussmann SC-1 fast-acting fuse is ideal for interrupting electrical surges during overloads and short circuits. It is highly sensitive to changes in the current flow and is occasionally coupled with an indicating fuse block or cover to enhance visibility and diagnostics. This fast-blow Class G fuse is widely used in industrial, manufacturing and commercial settings.

Working Mechanism

  • When an overcurrent event arises, such as a short circuit or fault, the current flowing through the fuse element exceeds its designated capacity.
  • The increased current leads to the generation of heat within the fuse element, owing to the heating effect. As the element's temperature rises, it moves closer to its melting threshold.
  • The fuse element, characterised by its notably low melting point, swiftly reaches that temperature. This prompts its liquefaction and results in disruption within the circuit. Consequently, this opening initiates an arc through the continuous current flow.
  • The arc that emerges from the melting of the fuse element becomes ionised, producing substantial heat. This heightened temperature expedites the arc's extinguishing, and the ensuing gap promptly interrupts the circuit. This orchestrated process isolates the section of the system posing issues.
  • Through the intervention of circuit interruption in milliseconds, the SC-1 fuse effectively thwarts the potential of excessive current, causing harm to sensitive equipment, wiring, and components. This operational approach stands as a vigilant protector of the encompassing electrical system.

Features

  • It is designed for rejection fuse blocks, ensuring compatibility and ease of use.
  • This fast-acting fuse features a single-element design for rapid protection in medium voltage circuits.
  • It has interrupt ratings of 100kA at 600VAC and 10kA at 170VDC for enhanced circuit protection against high current incidents.
  • This SC fuse is made of melamine for structural rigidity and electrical insulation.

Compatible Accessories

  • Bussmann BG3011SQ Fuse Block: This fuse holder is designed to work harmoniously with UL Class G fuses, offering overcurrent protection suitable for lighting or heating equipment, appliances and similar non-intensive applications.
  • Bussmann HPS-EE Panel Mount Fuse Holder: This fuse holder is engineered for panel mounting, offering overcurrent protection for branch circuits, control circuits, lighting systems, transformers and overall loads. Furthermore, in conjunction with midget fuses, they serve as supplementary protection for primary branch-circuit fuses or breakers, ensuring backup overcurrent safeguarding for circuits encompassing lighting, solenoids, motors and transformers.
