Working Mechanism

  • When water is being used, the balance of air & water pressure does not let the diaphragm flex.
  • When water is quickly shut off, the sudden halt causes the water pressure to surge. The resultant shock is absorbed by the diaphragm.
  • With a sudden drop in pressure, the diaphragm flexes silently to handle the pressure change.
  • Seconds after the shock, the diaphragm is back to its normal stage.

Features

  • It has a pre-charged air chamber with a standard tire valve to allow recharging.
  • It is integrated with a sealed-in diaphragm that flexes to absorb shocks and prevent wear.
  • It can withstand shock pressures up to 200 psi and prevents banging noise & damage to pipes & appliances.
  • This water hammer arrestor permits horizontal, vertical and angular mounting in both new & existing lines.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is meant by water hammer?

When high-speed water is forced to change direction or stopped abruptly, it causes a 'bounce-back', which is known as a water hammer. Water hammer arrestors are used in such cases to serve as cushions for shockwaves and avoid damage.

What is the arrestor made of?

The arrestor has stainless steel construction and is coated with a special thermo-plastic layer to prevent rust & allow maximum shock absorption.

How to install the unit in water pipelines?

  • Install as close as possible to the source of shock.
  • The unit is factory pre-charged to 30 psi. If the system pressure is higher than 35 psi, add air until the valve is 5 psi below the system flow pressure.
  • Avoid damaging the arrestor by using hex flats to tighten.
