Working Mechanism

  • This device essentially consists of a damped, pivoted vane that deflects when introduced to an airstream.
  • Since the vane's weight is fixed, the angle of inclination will depend on how quickly the impinging airstream changes momentum.

Features

  • Dwyer Instruments 480 swinging vane anemometer comes with large scales for ensuring double-sided visibility and ease of reading.
  • It also includes spirit level for indicating accurate output.
  • This unit has compact ABS plastic housing for job-site portability, secure storage, easy cleaning maintenance.
  • It features a handheld design for job-site portability and a high-contrast backlit LCD screen for high visibility in dim & bright light conditions.
  • The model is further integrated with a rugged, yet lightweight aluminium enclosure for protection against accidental impacts.

Compatible Accessories

  • Dwyer Instruments A-390 Vanes: These extra vanes measure air velocity and come in a pack of 2.

Frequently Asked Questions

How to install the vane?

  • Pull the vane holder from the end of the Vaneometre.
  • Carefully hang the vane by the wire in the two slots provided in the vane holder.
  • Then re-install the vane holder in the meter.
  • Either side of the vane may face the airflow.
  • The meter is now ready to take the readings. It is precalibrated.
  • If any vane becomes damaged, it is easily replaceable with a spare vane.
  • For permanent mounting with bracket, Vaneometre should be located at least 6 inches from the side or wall of the duct.
  • For accurate readings, always keep meter levels at all times.

How to determine face velocity?

Take the average of six readings. Readings should be taken at the centre of six equal sections, three across the bottom and three across the top.

How accurate is an anemometer?

A high-quality instrument will produce a wind speed reading that is accurate to about +/-0.5 percent of the full scale from the bottom of the scale to 100 FPM and +/-10 m/s percent from 100 FPM to the top of the scale.
