A sight flow indicator is used to monitor the fluid flow in a length of pipe. On the other hand, in addition to measuring the flow rate, flow transmitters also aid in controlling and monitoring it.
It is advised to install the oil sight glass (OSG) at the oil reservoir's lowest position, usually the drain port. Water pollution will move to the OSG, where it may be purged from the system and will get separated from good-grade oils.
In the sight glass downstream of the receiver, bubbling and flashing may happen during starting of some refrigeration systems when there is a heavy load on the system. This bubbling is brought on by a pressure drop at the receiver's output tube entrance. Rapid increases in load may also cause bubbling.
